The bus lane in St George’s Place near St. Peter’s Church in Brighton has been closed following a collision earlier this afternoon.

The incident is believed to have occurred shortly after 1.30pm today (Monday). Witnesses at the scene reported that a person was struck by a southbound bus.

Images from the scene show a bus with a cracked windscreen, and emergency services — including SECAmb (South East Coast Ambulance Service) — attended the incident. The injured person was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital for treatment.

Traffic police remain on scene investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision, and the area is expected to remain partially closed for some time.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and expect delays around the Old Steine and London Road approaches.
