Prighton Police are appealing to the public for help in identifying two teenagers captured on CCTV after the theft of an electric bike. On the evening of 17 October, a blue Trek electric bike was locked in the New England Street area of Brighton (near the junction of Elder Place). At about 5.30 pm, the bike’s lock was cut and the bike taken.
Investigators are now releasing still images of two young people from the scene and are asking anyone who recognises them—or who may have any other information—to come forward. The reference for the investigation is 1113 of 21/10.
Members of the public can report information either online via Sussex Police’s reporting form, or by calling 101 and quoting the reference above.
This appeal highlights the value of CCTV and witness information in helping the police pursue theft cases—especially those involving higher-value property such as electric bikes. As theft of pedal- and electric-bikes continues to be a concern in urban areas, owners are reminded to lock their bikes securely and use strong locks, and to register bike details where possible.
If you saw anything in the wide New England Street/Elder Place area on the evening of 17 October that seems relevant — even something you may have previously thought insignificant — you’re asked to contact Sussex Police. The smallest piece of information might be the clue investigators need.
