Emergency services were called to the undercliff walk between Ovingdean and Rottingdean early this morning after reports of a body washed up on the beach. The incident was reported just before 9 am and the police were immediately informed.
The Newhaven and Shoreham Coastguard teams also attended the scene to assist with the operation.
At this time, the police have not released any further information.
