Theme Revealed for Next Year’s Children’s Parade

The theme for next year’s Brighton Festival Children’s Parade has been confirmed as “Read All About It”, celebrating children’s literature in all its forms. The 2025 event will mark the parade’s 40th year and will once again bring thousands of schoolchildren, teachers and families into the streets to open the festival.

Schools taking part will explore six genres: realistic fiction, historical fiction, fantasy, traditional stories, science fiction and graphic novels or picture books. Each school will work with a professional artist, thanks to Same Sky, the community arts charity that leads the creative process.

New additions this year include samba masterclasses and support for teachers to introduce live music, offered in partnership with Create Music.

Brighton Festival’s Chief Executive said the parade has become a key part of the city’s identity, uniting communities in colour, creativity and celebration. Organisers hope the book-themed concept will inspire schools to let imaginations run wild ahead of the big event next May.
