Two classic Lambretta scooters stolen during Brighton Mods Weekend

Police are appealing for information after two vintage scooters were stolen in Brighton on Saturday night (23 August) during the busy Mods Weekend celebrations.

  • A Lambretta Series 2 was reported stolen outside Collingwood House, Marine Parade.
  • A 1963 LI150 was stolen from Dyke Road between 11.45pm and midnight.

The thefts come as thousands of scooter enthusiasts gathered in Brighton for the annual August Bank Holiday Mods Weekender — a tradition dating back decades.

Anyone with information or CCTV from the areas is urged to contact Sussex Police quoting the relevant time and location.

Absolutely heartbreaking for the recipients of these thefts.
My thoughts are with them, I would be absolutely devastated and beside myself if one of mine was stolen. Being in the Mod fraternity for over 40 years I can’t believe these despicable acts still occur.
Growing up as a teenage Mod on a council estate during the 80’s Mod revival it was quite a common occurrence, but seriously we’re all grown up now, have jobs and families!
Seriously sickens me to know that low life’s are still taking these type of scooters today.
Surely being Brighton, there is CCTV coverage of the main roads which the authorities can check to see what vans were around at the times these scooters were taken.
Because let’s face it they would have obviously used a van of some description.
What an upsetting ending to a brilliant weekend.
I hope there is a positive result for the owners of these scooters.
