Two men have been jailed for their roles in supplying drugs in Hove, linked to the so-called ‘Jo Jo Hove’ drug line.
Anas Elorby, 25, of Northcote Road, Croydon, and Moteeb Ahmad, 26, of no fixed address, were sentenced at Lewes Crown Court on 11 September after admitting multiple drug supply offences.
Both men had previously been convicted for class A drug supply in 2022.
The investigation began on 8 May, when officers on patrol stopped a 20-year-old man in West Drive, Brighton, following suspicious behaviour. He was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs and carrying a bladed article. He remains on bail.
A subsequent search of an address in Down Terrace uncovered several electronic devices, including a mobile phone with drug price lists being circulated by a contact saved as ‘Jo Jo Hove’. Detectives later identified Elorby as the controller of the line.
On 7 August, officers executed a warrant at a property in Brunswick Terrace, Hove, where Elorby and Ahmad were found. Inside, police seized a large quantity of drugs — including cocaine, MDMA, methamphetamine, ketamine and cannabis — with an estimated street value of more than £6,000. They also recovered multiple mobile phones and £1,200 in cash.
Both men were arrested at the scene and later charged. Elorby faced charges of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs, possession with intent to supply class A and B drugs, and two counts of possessing criminal property. Ahmad faced similar charges.
Elorby was jailed for four and a half years, while Ahmad received a sentence of four years and three months.
PC Emily Begley said:
“I am pleased that the sentencing given reflects the seriousness of the offences committed repeatedly by these two men. We are committed to our work in disrupting drug supply in Brighton and across Sussex. Our priority continues to be catching criminals and keeping communities safe.”
