A festive Christmas Day stroll along Brighton seafront turned into a scene of alarm after a fire broke out next to a tent close to the i360.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service was called into action at around 2.40pm, with two fire appliances rapidly mobilised to the scene. Crews arrived to find flames close to the tent and worked quickly to bring the blaze under control, preventing it from spreading.
Firefighters successfully extinguished the fire, allowing the festive afternoon to resume for shocked onlookers who had been enjoying their Christmas Day by the coast.
The cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed, and no further details have been released at this stage. Investigations may follow as emergency services seek to establish how the blaze started.
