Sussex police were called to St James Street in Brighton on 9 September at around 10:30pm following reports of an altercation. Officers attended the scene and asked a woman to leave the area.
According to Sussex Police, the woman then verbally abused an officer and became physically aggressive. In response, the officer pushed her, causing her to fall to the ground.
A complaint was subsequently made to Sussex Police regarding the officer’s use of force. The Professional Standards Department conducted an investigation, including a review of body-worn camera footage.
Sussex Police confirmed to Sussex News:
“A review of body-worn video confirmed that the officer’s use of force was reasonable and proportionate under the circumstances, as the woman was verbally and physically aggressive and refused repeated requests to leave. Officers have the right to protect themselves, and the woman was pushed away in self-defence.”
No further action has been taken against the officer.

He needs anger management.
Is the United Kingdom a third world country?
this is way too common in brighton im afraid and body cam clearly shows assault that any civilian would be arrested and found in court for
Please give the IOPC details of the officer badge number he was far too aggressive. The officer would of also been unsure if the female had any hidden disabilities or serious health problems to be pushing people to a concrete floor , I would say lucky she had a back pack on or he could of cracked her skull.
