A 24-year-old man from Whitehawk has been sentenced to prison after admitting to a series of serious offences involving indecent images of children and extreme pornography.

Riley Pettitt, of Lower Chalvington Place, appeared at Lewes Crown Court where he pleaded guilty to seven charges. He has now been jailed for 30 months for making indecent photographs of children, possessing extreme pornographic images, and being involved in the supply of a Class A drug (MDMA) to another person.

The offences included:

Two counts of possessing extreme pornographic images

One count of possessing a prohibited image of a child

Three counts of making indecent photographs of a child

One count relating to being concerned in the supply of MDMA

Pettitt also faced an additional charge of possessing MDMA with intent to supply, which he denied. That charge has been left on file.

As part of his sentencing, the court issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, placed Pettitt on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely, and imposed a five-year restraining order.

The case underlines the firm approach taken by the criminal justice system toward offences involving child abuse imagery, which are treated with the utmost seriousness in order to protect children and the wider public.
