An HSBC bank branch in Brighton city centre has been forced to close following an overnight vandalism attack.
The incident happened at the HSBC branch on North Street, close to the junction with Bond Street, in the early hours of Saturday, December 13. Police believe the damage occurred at around 3.50am.
Windows at the branch were smashed and red paint was thrown over the front of the building. Graffiti was also sprayed on the pavement at the entrance, with the words “drop Elbit” written on the ground.
Sussex Police confirmed they are investigating the incident as criminal damage. A spokesperson said:
“Police are investigating a report of criminal damage caused to a bank in North Street, Brighton. The incident is believed to have occurred in the morning of December 13 at about 3.50am.
“Witnesses or anyone with relevant information can report it to Sussex Police online or by calling 101 and quoting serial 358 of 13/12.”
