Updated: Birling Gap Beach closed due to rockfall

Wealden District Council has had to close Birling Gap beach due to recent rockfalls.

A spokesperson for the council said “Be aware that the beach at Birling Gap has been closed due to a rockfall over the New Year’s break.

The National Trust car park, café and the walks along the top of the cliffs are all still open, however, that section of the beach will be closed until further notice.”

This is a reminder to Please stay well back and away from cliff edges and bases.
