Six firefighters from Bexhill Community Fire Station have completed a relentless 4x4x48 challenge – running four miles every four hours for 48 hours – in memory of two colleagues who tragically lost their lives in the Bicester fire in May 2025.
The challenge was carried out to honour Firefighters Jennie Logan and Martyn Sadler, whose courage, dedication and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
The Team
The gruelling event was led by FF Alex Thompson, WM Daryl Streeter, FF Kevin Smith, FF Stuart Lawson, FF Toby Fry and CM Tristan Fawkes, with other colleagues joining in for select runs to provide support.
Over two days, the firefighters faced sleep deprivation, torrential rain, painful blisters and sheer exhaustion, but pressed on until they completed a total of 48 miles each.
Fire Station Statement
In an emotional message, Bexhill Fire Station said:
“They’ve only gone and done it! Over the past 48 hours, our incredible six have battled everything from rain to blisters – and still kept going. They set out in memory of our fallen brother and sister, Martyn Sadler and Jennie Logan, and they’ve truly honoured their legacy. We are unbelievably proud of them – what they’ve done is phenomenal. Legend status: infinite .”

The event is also raising vital funds for charities that support the fire and rescue community and the families of fallen firefighters.
