QAn investigation is under way after a fatal collision on the A27 near Wilmington claimed the life of an 18-year-old man.
Emergency services were called to the stretch of road between Wilmington and Polegate shortly before 11pm on Tuesday, 30 September, following reports of a two-vehicle crash.
The young driver, from Heathfield, was pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
The driver of the second vehicle, a 26-year-old man from Eastbourne, suffered serious injuries and remains in hospital.
The A27 was closed overnight between Polegate and the Drusillas roundabout while collision investigators examined the scene. The road has since reopened.
Appeal for Information
Sussex Police are now urging anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have dashcam footage from the area around the time, to come forward.
A police spokesperson said: “We are carrying out a full investigation to establish the circumstances of this tragic incident. We ask anyone who was travelling along this part of the A27 that evening to check their dashcams and contact us if they have any footage that could help.”
