Today, a court appearance is scheduled for a Sussex Police officer linked to the fatal incident involving 27-year-old Arthur Hölscher-Ermert in Peacehaven on April 30, 2022. The incident, where Mr. Hölscher-Ermert was fatally hit by a police vehicle, has led to legal proceedings.
The officer, whose identity is currently withheld due to legal constraints, is facing a charge of causing death by dangerous driving and is set to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on January 9, 2024. Additionally, it has been decided not to prosecute a second officer initially investigated for potentially obstructing justice.
The IOPC stated, “It is important now that criminal proceedings are able to run their course. We would reiterate the importance of not reporting, commenting or sharing information online which could in any way prejudice those proceedings.”
