Bomb Squad Called After Grenade Find

During a previous search of the property, officers discovered two decommissioned hand grenades, prompting a response from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team. The items were safely removed and confirmed to pose no active threat to the public.

Road Closure in Place During Ongoing Search

Sussex Police confirmed that the search resumed today, with a temporary road closure in place on Newfield Road for vehicle access to assist officers with the investigation.

Chief Inspector Mark Evans said:

“As part of the ongoing investigation, a police search at the address has resumed, and the road has been temporarily closed for vehicle access.

The closure is in place for logistical reasons, to allow us to carry out our searches safely. Affected residents have been advised of alternative arrangements for their vehicles.

There is no current risk to the public, and residents are still able to access their properties as normal while this is ongoing.”

He added:

“I would like to thank the local community for their patience and understanding. We are working to keep disruption to a minimum.”
