Rare Coins Worth Tens of Thousands Stolen in Hastings Burglary

Police are appealing for information following a high-value burglary in Hastings in which a large collection of rare and collectable coins was stolen.

The break-in occurred at a property in Athelstan Road between 1am and 9.30am on Wednesday, 13 August.

A number of unique coins, with a combined value running into tens of thousands of pounds, were taken. Among the missing items are several rare pieces commemorating key milestones of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign, including:

  • The Queen Elizabeth II £5 Coin Pair
  • The Queen Elizabeth II ‘Longest-Reigning Monarch’ 22-Carat Gold Proof £1 and £2 Coins
  • The Queen Elizabeth II 90th Birthday 22-Carat Gold Proof £5 Coin
  • The Queen Elizabeth II 90th Birthday Pure Gold Diamond-Set Proof Coin
  • The Platinum Wedding Anniversary Solid 22-Carat Gold Proof £5 Coin (2007)
  • The UK’s 2017 and 2018 Gold Proof Piedfort Sovereigns
  • The UK’s 40th Anniversary of the Snowman Gold Proof 50p Coin
  • The Queen’s Coronation Jubilee Solid 22-Carat Gold Proof £5 Coin
  • The Platinum Jubilee of the Queen Platinum Proof £5 Coin

Several luxury presentation boxes and full sovereign collections are also among the stolen property.

Detectives are urging anyone who saw suspicious activity in the Athelstan Road area during the night of the burglary, or who may have seen these items being offered for sale, to come forward.
