Seaford Station Murder Investigation After Teenage Boy Fatally Stabbed

Detectives have launched a murder investigation after a 16-year-old boy was fatally stabbed at Seaford railway station this evening (Tuesday, 10 September).

British Transport Police confirmed officers were called to the station at around 5pm following reports of a stabbing. Sussex Police and paramedics also attended, alongside the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance, which landed nearby at The Salts.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics, the teenager was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody. Detectives say enquiries are ongoing “at pace” to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Stanley, from British Transport Police, said:

“This is a shocking incident which has resulted in the tragic loss of a young man this evening. The investigation remains in the early stages and the station will remain closed while we continue our enquiries in the area.

I would urge anyone who may have witnessed what happened, or the lead up to it, to get in touch as you may have vital information which could help our investigation.”

Seaford station remains closed while forensic teams carry out enquiries.
