East Sussex Fire Service was called to Barcombe Mills overnight after reports of cars being stuck in flood water.
Seven people and one child were rescued from vehicles stuck.
ESFRS said “The road remains closed due to water and by three vehicles across the highway. Please do not drive around the road closure signs that are now in place.”
Lewes fire station tweeted “Barcombe Mills road is closed and impassable due to flood water and two cars in the highway. Water levels are currently rising in the local area.”
