A man has been sentenced to 19 years in prison after committing a series of serious sexual offences against children in Sussex and Suffolk.
Inam Khan, 37, of Troon Crescent, Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, used online chat rooms and Snapchat to target young girls, lying about his age to gain their trust before grooming and assaulting them.
Suffolk Offences
On 19 September 2022, Khan travelled from his home to Suffolk to meet a 14-year-old girl he had groomed online. He took her to a nearby location and raped her. A further attempted rape was also reported. Khan was arrested on 1 October 2022 and later charged with two counts of rape and one of attempted rape.
Sussex Offences
Khan later targeted a 12-year-old girl in Sussex, pretending to be 16. He pressured her for explicit images and, on 8 September 2024, drove to her home, abducted her, and sexually assaulted her. Six days later, he returned and attempted to meet her again. In total, Khan travelled around 600 miles during these offences.
He was arrested on 25 November 2024 and charged with multiple offences, including sexual assault of a child under 13, child abduction, sexual communication with a child, and meeting a child following grooming.
Trial and Sentencing
Khan’s trial began on 23 June 2025 at Hove Crown Court and lasted nine days. On 3 July, the jury found him guilty on all counts. Today (22 December 2025), Khan was sentenced to 19 years in prison, with an additional three years on licence.

Detective Sergeant Matt Williamson of Suffolk Police said:
“Inam Khan is a dangerous predator who used social media to identify and exploit vulnerable young females. His horrific offending has caused untold suffering to his victims and their families.”
Detective Sergeant Jamie Ashford of Sussex Police added:
“This case highlights the real dangers posed when children are approached online by individuals intent on grooming and exploitation. We urge parents and carers to remain vigilant.”
Both forces stressed their commitment to protecting children and bringing offenders to justice.
