Police and volunteers are continuing a major search operation for 38-year-old Rebecca Holdham, known to friends as Becky, who has been reported missing from her home in Hassocks, West Sussex.

Rebecca was last seen at around 10am on Sunday, 7 September, leaving an address on the Ockley Park estate. She has not been seen or heard from since, prompting growing concern for her welfare.

Over the past two nights, concerned locals have joined the search, scouring countryside and woodland areas around the village. Friends have described themselves as “worried sick” and are planning to continue searching again today.

Drones, police dogs and a helicopter have all been deployed as part of an extensive operation to locate her.

Detective Inspector Chris May, of the West Sussex Missing Persons Team, said:

“We are growing increasingly concerned for Rebecca’s welfare, and are urging anyone who has seen or heard from her since Sunday morning to get in touch.
Extensive enquiries are being completed including physical searches, house-to-house visits, and checks of CCTV and doorbell cameras in the area, and so residents will see an increased police presence in the area while this is ongoing.”

Rebecca is described as 5ft 4in tall, with shoulder-length brown hair and a tattoo on her ankle. It is currently unknown what clothing she was wearing when she went missing.

Police believe she left her home on foot and have said she also has links to Burgess Hill, Horsham, Worthing, Devon and Dorset.

Anyone who sees Rebecca or has any information about her whereabouts is urged to call 999 immediately, quoting serial 1359 of 07/09.
