Sussex News visited Sixes at the County Cricket Ground in Hove after being invited along with a complimentary meal provided by the Wild PA team. While the experience didn’t get off to the smoothest start due to a breakdown in communication between the production team and the venue, this cannot be held against the staff, who did everything they could to resolve the situation.
When we arrived, the staff had no record of the complimentary booking, which caused some initial confusion. However, they were polite, professional, and committed to sorting it out. We also spoke with the stadium security manager, who quickly escalated the matter to a senior staff member inside the venue. After reviewing the email correspondence, the situation was resolved efficiently, and the arrangement was honoured.
Once this was sorted, we placed our food order of two burgers with fries, along with two Cokes. The burgers were customised to our preferences, and the request was handled smoothly. The food arrived promptly and was served efficiently, which we appreciated. It was of a good, acceptable standard—not piping hot, but certainly not cold—and overall, the meal was enjoyable.
Given the size of the venue, it was clear the staff were busy, and there didn’t appear to be many on duty at the time, but they still handled everything professionally.
Once everything was settled, the atmosphere inside Sixes was lively and energetic. The interactive cricket nets, the social setting, and the historic County Ground location give the venue real potential. Despite the initial hiccup, the staff’s professionalism and efficiency ensured the visit was enjoyable.
Overall, Sixes is a fun and welcoming venue, and we left feeling that the team had done everything possible to make our experience a positive one.
