Appeal After Vintage Car Crash in Maresfield Leaves Two Seriously Injured

Police are appealing for witnesses after a serious crash involving a classic vintage car in Maresfield left two men in hospital with serious injuries.

Emergency services were called to the A272 at Batts Bridge Roundabout at around 8.40am on Wednesday, July 23, following reports of a collision involving a 1915 black Ford vehicle.

The car, which was travelling eastbound, entered the roundabout near Batts Bridge junction and overturned. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

The driver, an 83-year-old man from Middlesex, suffered potentially life-changing injuries and was taken to hospital for urgent treatment.

His passenger, a 69-year-old man from East Sussex, also sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

Police Investigation Ongoing

Sussex Police have launched a full investigation and are urging anyone with information or footage to come forward.

A spokesperson said:

“We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash, or who saw the black 1915 Ford in the moments before the incident, to get in touch.

We are particularly interested in any relevant dash cam, CCTV, or mobile phone footage.”
