A man who stalked a woman while disguised in a Spiderman mask and left a string of unwanted gifts at her home has been spared jail.
Mason Rogers, 23, of Marsden Road in Eastbourne, pleaded guilty in January to stalking involving serious alarm and distress.
On Friday (July 11), Brighton Magistrates’ Court handed him a 16-month prison sentence, suspended for two years. Rogers was also issued a 10-year restraining order and ordered to complete 25 days of rehabilitation activities.
The court previously heard that Rogers began leaving packages and presents at the victim’s home in Hailsham in February 2024. In one incident, he was caught on a doorbell camera — installed after the harassment began — wearing a Spiderman mask as he dropped off a parcel.
In a particularly unsettling delivery, the victim received a package containing a doorbell camera and a second surveillance camera, along with a note reading: “Happy ten months and sixteen days since you found out you had a stalker.” The package was delivered by a man wearing a baseball cap.
Magistrates imposed a restraining order lasting until July 11, 2035, prohibiting Rogers from contacting the victim in person, via social media, or any other means.
