Sussex Police are appealing for information after a violent assault left a teenage boy with potentially life-changing injuries in Haywards Heath.
Emergency services rushed to Sydney Road at around 5.40pm on Monday (28 July) following reports that a 16-year-old boy had been struck by a car and then assaulted by two men armed with weapons.
The boy was taken to hospital with serious injuries, which police say may be life-altering. The suspects fled the scene in the vehicle following the attack.
A major police investigation is now underway, with forensic teams working at the scene and officers conducting an extensive search to locate those involved.
Detective Inspector Gary Jacobs said:
“This is a serious incident that has left a young man with significant injuries.
It took place at a busy time in the town centre, with a number of witnesses and vehicles passing by.
An investigation is underway to locate the suspects, and we are asking anyone who saw the incident or has relevant dashcam or CCTV footage to contact police.”
Anyone with information is urged to contact Sussex Police online or by calling 101, quoting serial 1144 of 28/07.
