East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS) are currently tackling a significant fire in Eastbourne town centre this evening, with flames reported in the roof space above the NME Nightclub on Terminus Road.
ESFRS confirmed to Sussex News that six fire engines, including an aerial ladder platform (ALP), are on the scene and breathing apparatus in use.. Fire officers are working alongside Sussex Police, who have implemented road closures in the immediate area to support emergency efforts and ensure public safety.
Terminus Road has been closed from Bolton Road as crews work to bring the fire under control. There is currently no official information about injuries or the extent of the damage, but witnesses report heavy smoke rising from the roof of the building.
No reports of any casualties at the time of publish.
Emergency services are urging the public to avoid the area while the incident is ongoing.
