Squeaky clean competition: Eastbourne’s soapbox showdown returns in style

Eastbourne was transformed into a thrilling racetrack yesterday as the Seafront Soapbox Race made its triumphant return.

Crowds gathered along Dukes Drive to witness the daring and whimsical soapbox creations zooming down the course, with contestants vying for both speed and creativity.

The event, which has gained popularity over the past years, saw participants from all walks of life converge to showcase their inventive soapbox designs. From quirky contraptions to finely-tuned racing machines, the soapboxes ranged from the sublime to the ridiculous.

And here’s the 2023 race winner’s podium (final run times):

Gold- Albino Squirrel Supporters 29.66 secs

Silver- Skyzone Racing Team 35.38 secs

Bronze – Setyres Hailsham 36.62 secs

And prize for the wackiest creation goes to Woody, Buzz & co from the Skyzone Racing Team!
