In a remarkable act of bravery, Adrian Davies and his ten-year-old son Kobias were awarded a Commendation by Sussex Police Chief Constable Jo Shiner. The father-son duo sprang into action at Worthing Beach when a paddleboarder encountered life-threatening difficulties.

Kobias, displaying exceptional awareness, quickly alerted his father and the beach crowd. Adrian, alongside two volunteers, battled a strong current, swimming over 30 meters to reach the distressed paddleboarder.

Despite Adrian’s strenuous efforts in performing CPR until the arrival of paramedics, the paddleboarder was sadly declared deceased. Their courageous deeds were formally recognized at the Chief’s Commendations ceremony in December.

Adrian said: “We are both thrilled with this award, but would like to acknowledge everyone involved that day on the beach.”
