Police are appealing for witnesses after a BMW collided with another vehicle while failing to stop for officers on the A27 near Brighton.

The incident happened on the westbound carriageway between Falmer and Hollingbury at just before 6pm on Saturday 3 January.

Sussex Police said officers attempted to stop a BMW, which then sped off, weaving in and out of queuing traffic. The vehicle subsequently collided with a Range Rover.

Following the collision, the driver abandoned the BMW and ran across the carriageway before leaving the scene.

A 47-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and remains in police custody.

Detective Inspector Tony Gander said: “We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or from anyone who has dash cam footage of the incident.”

Anyone with information is asked to report online or call 101, quoting serial 908 of 03/01.
