Three More Men Arrested Over Peacehaven Mosque Arson Attack

Shocking Footage Shows Arson at Peacehaven Mosque – Taxi Driver Escapes

Three more men have been arrested as part of an ongoing investigation into an arson attack at a mosque in Peacehaven earlier this month.

Emergency services were called to the mosque in Phyllis Avenue at around 9.50pm on Saturday, October 4, after reports that two suspects had sprayed an accelerant on the front door and set it alight while people were inside.

No one was injured, but police said the incident could have had “devastating consequences”.

Following a detailed investigation by the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team, three men — aged 34 and 42 from Peacehaven, and 38 from Seaford — have been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. They remain in custody for questioning.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Cullimore, who is leading the investigation, said officers have been working “tirelessly” to identify those responsible.

“This was a serious and deeply concerning incident which has understandably caused distress within the community,” he said. “Our investigation remains ongoing as we continue to build a clear picture of the events that took place.”

Police have been engaging with local residents and faith leaders to provide reassurance and support following the attack.

Earlier in the investigation, four other men were arrested but were later released without further action.

Officers are still appealing for anyone with information or footage that could assist the inquiry to come forward.

Information can be provided to Sussex Police online or by calling 101, quoting Operation Lariat. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
