A Littlehampton man has been jailed after being convicted of serious child sex offences following a police investigation in West Sussex.

George Blackmore, 23, of Arundel Drive, appeared at Hove Crown Court where he was sentenced to three and a half years in prison. The court heard that he engaged in sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl while he was 19, and also sent sexual communications, images and videos to a 16-year-old girl around the same period. Blackmore was arrested in 2022 after the younger victim came forward to police, and during the investigation officers uncovered indecent images of her on his devices.

In July 2025, he was found guilty of two counts of sexual activity with a child but acquitted of rape and other related offences. On 22 September he received a prison term of three and a half years along with a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order, designed to restrict his behaviour both online and in person to protect potential victims in the future.

Detective Constable Owen Watkins, who led the investigation, praised the bravery of the victims in coming forward. He said: “This was a difficult case, but thanks to the courage of the victims we were able to secure a conviction. Blackmore poses no risk to the wider public while in prison, and his behaviour will continue to be monitored on release.”

The conviction highlights the ongoing work of Sussex Police and child protection teams to safeguard vulnerable young people in the community. Police have urged anyone with concerns about child sexual exploitation in West Sussex to report it online or by calling 101, and to always dial 999 in an emergency.
