Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision in Easebourne on Friday evening (7 November).
Emergency services were called to the A286, about 500 metres south of the crossroads with Kings Drive, at around 8.47pm after a cyclist was found lying in the road with serious injuries.
The cyclist, a 21-year-old man from Haslemere in Surrey, was taken to hospital but sadly died the following morning.
During the investigation, officers received information about a silver BMW that may have been involved in the incident. The car has since been located and recovered, and a 21-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and other related offences.
Detective Sergeant Rob Baldwin, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision. He appealed for anyone who saw a silver BMW in the area around the time of the incident, or who may have dashcam footage, to come forward.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Sussex Police by emailing collision.appeal@sussex.police.uk, quoting Operation Plumpton.
