Brighton and Hove’s much-loved independent venue, The Old Market (TOM), is kicking off the festive season with something truly special — a brand-new immersive production titled The Gift. Running from December 3 to 21, this unique show promises a joyful mix of live music, theatre, dining, and surprise-filled fun.
Co-produced and hosted by award-winning director and writer Mella Faye, Artistic Director of the acclaimed Pecho Mama, The Gift draws inspiration from Berlin’s Social Muscle Club and America’s Burning Man. It’s described as a celebration of “the absurdity and wonder of being alive” — part gig, part cabaret, and entirely unpredictable.

Each evening, audiences will be treated to a night of spontaneous entertainment from a talented crew of maverick artists skilled in everything from clowning and mime to music and cabaret. No two performances will be the same, as every night invites participation, creativity, and a sense of shared adventure.
“The Gift is about living and loving life — a place where inhibitions are unwrapped and left at the door,” said Faye. “It’s a radical alternative to the capitalist rodeo of Christmas — the best kind of bonkers house party with 100 new best friends.”
Guests can also enjoy a winter feast of sharing platters from local suppliers, served at cabaret-style tables throughout the evening’s festivities.
The Gift runs at The Old Market from December 3–21, with no shows on Mondays or Tuesdays. All performances are for ages 18 and over. Tickets are priced at £47.50, including food, and are available now via theoldmarket.com/shows/the-gift or by calling the Box Office on 01273 201801.
This festive season, The Old Market invites everyone to unwrap The Gift — and discover the magic, music and mayhem within.
