A Pulborough man who carried out a vicious knife attack in Cootham has been jailed for 15 years.

Thomas Hoe, 28, of Pulborough Road, stabbed two people during a violent outburst on 16 January.

Stabbing Rampage

Police rushed to Pulborough Road just after 7:25pm and found a 54-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man seriously injured.

The woman, who knew Hoe, had been attacked after an earlier row. The man was stabbed multiple times in the torso, arms, legs and neck while trying to hold Hoe back. He needed surgery for his wounds.

Hoe also stabbed himself in the leg before dialling 999 and claiming three people had been attacked. Officers arrested him at the scene.

Court Verdict

At Lewes Crown Court, Hoe was cleared of attempted murder but convicted of two counts of grievous bodily harm with intent. He had already admitted carrying a knife in public.

On 25 September, Judge Michael Kent KC sentenced him to 15 years behind bars.

Police Warning

Detective Constable Jules Shorrock called it “a particularly violent attack” and said the victims will live with the impact for years.

She warned:

“Anyone who arms themselves with a knife faces serious consequences. Hoe’s sentence reflects that.”

Knife Crime Crackdown

Sussex Police say tackling knife violence remains one of their top priorities, urging the public to think twice before carrying blades.
