Police seized a vehicle in Selsey after arresting a suspected drug dealer during a late-night stop.

Officers from Sussex Police’s Specialist Enforcement Unit stopped a Mercedes at around 9pm on December 11. A search under the Misuse of Drugs Act uncovered deal bags containing Class A drugs inside the vehicle.

The driver, a 32-year-old man, was arrested. Officers were alarmed to find a young boy inside the car, who had been left in the man’s care. The child was safeguarded and safely returned to his parents.

The suspect tested positive for cocaine and cannabis at the roadside. The vehicle was seized and the man was arrested on suspicion of drug driving, possession of cocaine with intent to supply, driving without a licence, and no insurance.

The arrest forms part of Operation Limit, Sussex Police’s winter campaign targeting drink and drug drivers. The man has been bailed pending further enquiries.
