Two boys have been arrested as detectives continue to investigate a stabbing incident on Worthing seafront earlier this month.
Police were called at around 1.17pm on Wednesday, 1 October, following reports of three teenagers – one armed with a knife – chasing another teenager along Marine Parade, near the junction with West Street.
Members of the public rushed to help an 18-year-old man who sustained a hand injury during the incident. He was taken to hospital for treatment and later discharged.
Since the attack, police have arrested two boys from Worthing, aged 16 and 17, on suspicion of wounding with intent. Both have been released on conditional bail until 5 January while enquiries continue.
Detective Constable Darran Newman, of Worthing CID, said:
“I’d like to reassure the public that while we have arrested two suspects in connection with this matter, our enquiries do not stop here.
“This was a serious incident that happened in daylight hours on Worthing seafront, when there would have been a lot of people around, and we’re urging anyone with any information to please come forward.”
Anyone with information is urged to report it online or call 101, quoting serial 615 of 01/10.
Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111 or via their website.
