Marcus Cresswell, suspect in Worthing 12-car collision, evades court

Marcus Cresswell, a 34-year-old individual with ties to Brighton and no fixed address, is being sought bypolice after failing to appear in court to face charges related to a 12-car collision that occurred in Worthing in 2021.

The incident took place on October 1, when Cresswell allegedly drove a Ford Transit van through backed-up traffic on the A27, causing multiple collisions and resulting in minor injuries to occupants of other vehicles. Alert members of the public managed to detain him until authorities arrived.

Following a thorough investigation, the Crown Prosecution Service authorised charges against Cresswell, including failing to stop at a road traffic collision, driving without insurance, driving without a valid license, dangerous driving, failing to provide a specimen for analysis, and criminal damage (to a police cell).

Cresswell was scheduled to face these charges in court on May 3, 2022, after being summoned by postal requisition. However, the summons was returned undelivered, as he was not known at the address provided. Consequently, a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Despite exhaustive efforts to locate him, Cresswell remains at large, prompting authorities to launch an appeal for information leading to his whereabouts. The public is urged to come forward with any details that could assist in locating him. Reports can be made online or by calling 101, quoting reference number 1040 of 01/10/2021.
