Shoreham Coastguard Team and Brighton RNLI Tasked to Incident

At 10:23 on 22 May 2024, the Shoreham Coastguard Team, along with Brighton RNLI, responded to reports of a vessel dragging its anchor west of Brighton Marina. A search was initiated to locate the vessel’s owner, who was believed to have come ashore.

The Coastguard found a small inflatable dinghy but could not locate its owner.

The RNLI confirmed that no persons were on board the vessel. Due to rough sea conditions, it was deemed unsafe to place a crew member on board.

The vessel eventually collided with the marina wall and sustained damage, leading to it sinking shortly afterward. All rescue assets were subsequently stood down.
