Video: Response by Brighton Lifeboat and Coastguard to Person in Water

In response to a potentially critical incident, Brighton Lifeboat, alongside local coastguard teams and the Coastguard Helicopter, was dispatched to the vicinity of Brighton Marina on this morning (February 21, 2024), following reports of a person in the water.

However, after a thorough investigation of the area and careful assessment of the situation, it was determined that the situation did not require further intervention. Sussex news sources have confirmed that all responding units were subsequently stood down.

Brighton RNLi said “We were paged today to attend to a person entering the water 200m east of the Brighton Marina Arm. In challenging conditions Brighton Lifeboat attended and were assisted by the Newhaven Coastguard and HM Coastguard Shoreham along with the Coastguard helicopter.

After conducting an extensive search, with no further information available and with sea conditions deteriorating the Coastguard deemed the search complete and our volunteer crew was stood-down at 12:22pm.”
