On Sunday, an emotional gathering took place at the East Dean and Friston Cricket Club in East Sussex to pay tribute to the late Neil Gamble, the club’s former captain, and local businessman who passed away suddenly in February at the age of just 46.

Family, friends, and players, both past and present, united to participate in a memorial cricket match to celebrate the life and contributions of a man known for his warmth, generosity, and commitment to the club and its community.

Neil Gamble was more than just a captain; he was the embodiment of the club’s ethos. A former cricketing colleague described him as “a man for whom the welfare and support of those at the club were as important and inseparable from the club ethos as the sport itself.”

Apart from his prominent role in the local cricketing scene, Gamble was also a founding partner in the successful Eastbourne estate agents Brook Gamble. His sudden loss has been felt profoundly both within the sporting community and the local business landscape.
