At 2.24pm on December 2, 2023, East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service was dispatched to a blaze at an industrial facility in Golden Cross, Chiddingly. A total of eight fire engines arrived at the scene, where firefighters employed three main water jets and specialized firefighting foam to combat the flames.
The public has been advised to steer clear of the area, while residents nearby are urged to keep their windows and doors shut for safety.
Traffic disruptions have been caused by Sussex Police implementing road closures on the A22 and adjacent streets, including Charlington Way, Coldharbour Road, Camberlot Road, Nash Street, and Burgh Hill Road. These measures will be maintained for the duration of the firefighting efforts.

Latest Update (4.13pm): Firefighters persist in their efforts to extinguish the fire, using three foam jets, two main jets, and an Aerial Ladder Platform. Road closures remain in effect, and locals are reminded to keep their windows and doors closed.
UPDATE 6.20pm: The fire is now out. There are no reports of any casualties.
UPDATE 7.20pm: Crews continue to remain on scene to ensure the fire is completely out, using thermal imaging cameras to check for hotspots, checking affected and neighbouring properties.
UPDATE 8.20pm: As of 8.01pm crews began leaving the scene, a reinspection will take place later this evening however all firefighting operations are complete.
