Police Incident in Lewes: A27 Eastbound Affected

At approximately 7 pm this evening, a police incident led to the closure of the A27 Eastbound at the Ashcombe Roundabout in Lewes.

Eyewitnesses reported the presence of the National Police Air Service (NPAS) helicopter hovering above the area, indicating the serious nature of the incident. The reasons behind the deployment of NPAS are currently unclear.

In a bid to ease traffic congestion, police managed to reopen one lane of the A27 Eastbound while the operation was ongoing.

Sussex Police have been approached for comment adn we will update once we have more information.
