Blood-Smearing Break-In Leads to Jail Time for Horsham Man

An incident in Horsham has concluded with the sentencing of a man to 14 months in jail. The disturbance, which has shaken the community, took place in Peary Close around 6 pm on Monday, January 30, 2023.

Kristopher Everitt, a 40-year-old man with no fixed address, was reported to have unlawfully entered a residence. The intrusion turned alarming when Everitt, with hands covered in blood, smeared the blood onto the face and t-shirt of an occupant.

The situation escalated until other residents at the property, who were acquainted with Everitt, demanded he leave. The confrontation ended with Everitt’s departure from the premises, but not before he caused damage to a fence located on Cook Road.

Everitt was later apprehended and stood trial at Brighton Magistrates’ Court, where he entered a guilty plea for charges of criminal damage and common assault. The court handed down a sentence of 14 months’ imprisonment on Monday, January 22.
