A sudden and violent gust of wind wreaked havoc on Guildford Road in Horsham, leading to an incident where a tree was uprooted and crashed onto a moving van and a bus. The unexpected event occurred at around 12:50 pm, leaving six people injured and causing significant disruption.
Eyewitnesses described the moment as terrifying, with the tree falling without warning, directly impacting the vehicles in its path. The impact was severe enough to injure six individuals, necessitating immediate medical attention.
The South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) was quick to respond to the emergency. A spokesperson for SECAmb detailed their response, stating, “We were called to reports of an incident involving a tree falling and hitting a van and a bus in Guildford Road, Horsham, reported to us at approximately 12:50 pm today.”
The aftermath of the incident saw Guildford Road closed to traffic to facilitate the recovery of the damaged vehicles and the removal of the fallen tree, causing considerable traffic delays in the surrounding area.
