Pulborough Resident Faces 72 New Charges in Sexual Assault Case

70-year-old Ian Elliott of Pulborough has been charged with 72 additional offences, following his initial accusations of 20 crimes, including rape, sexual assault, voyeurism, grievous bodily harm, and administering a substance with intent to commit a sexual offence. The Crown Prosecution Service authorized the additional charges as a result of ongoing police inquiries.

The alleged offences took place between 1999 and the 2020s in the Horsham district, where Elliott was a well-known figure, actively participating in sports and social clubs. So far, at least six male complainants have come forward to support the police investigation.

Detective Inspector Lee Horner urged anyone with information about the offences or those who may have been a victim themselves to come forward. He emphasized the importance of holding offenders accountable for their actions and ensuring the safety of victims. Reports can be made online or via 101, quoting serial 474 of 15/05, or anonymously through Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111 or their website.

Elliott remains in custody and is set to appear for trial at the crown court on November 27 this year.
