In a turn of events, an easyJet flight from London Gatwick to Dalaman, Turkey, was forced to return to Gatwick shortly after takeoff Tuesday morning due to technical issues.

The flight, operated by an Airbus A320 with registration G-EZPB, departed Gatwick Airport at 8:15 BST on Tuesday, May 14, 2024. The scheduled flight time to Dalaman was nearly four hours. However, as the aircraft crossed the English Channel, the pilots detected engine issues, prompting immediate action.

The crew initiated a descent from 29,000 feet to 14,000 feet and circled for a brief period before being directed back to London Gatwick Airport. Passengers experienced an unexpected delay as they awaited further instructions and a replacement aircraft.

easyJet swiftly arranged for a substitute plane, an Airbus A320 with registration G-EZRY, to complete the journey. Flight #U28563 took off from Gatwick at 12:19 BST and landed safely in Dalaman just before 6:00 PM local time.
