Teen Charged with Attempted Murder in Crawley Stabbing

: Suspect remanded in custody; teenage victim remains in serious condition.

Following a stabbing incident in Crawley over the weekend, an 18-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder and remanded in custody.

The emergency services rushed to Burdock Close around 11:20 PM upon receiving reports that a teenager had been stabbed. A 15-year-old boy, severely injured, was transported to the hospital where he is currently in a serious condition.

Carling Poynter, residing in Broadfield, Crawley, was apprehended early Monday on suspicion of attempted murder and carrying a knife. After being charged, he appeared at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (8 May) and was remanded in custody. He is scheduled to appear next at Lewes Crown Court on June 5.

Additionally, a 17-year-old boy and a 35-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and have been released on bail pending further investigations.

Superintendent Imran Asghar commented, “Our thoughts remain with the young victim and his family after the devastating events of Sunday night. A suspect has now been remanded in custody, but we are continuing to appeal for any information that could help with the investigation.
