An incident unfolded on the A27 as a single-vehicle collision claimed the life of a 24-year-old man from Seaford. The tragedy occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, January 9th, as a grey BMW 320i was traveling eastbound, between Falmer and Lewes, just before 3 am.
Regrettably, the driver lost his life in the collision, leading to a somber response from emergency services. Following the incident, the A27 was temporarily closed in both directions for several hours to facilitate recovery and forensic investigations. However, it has since been fully reopened to the public, who are appreciated for their patience and understanding during this challenging time.
Two male passengers, aged 24 and 19, both hailing from Seaford, sustained injuries and were transported to the hospital. One suffered serious injuries, while the other’s injuries were minor.
The precise cause of the collision remains under investigation, and authorities are urging individuals with information to come forward. Those who may have witnessed the vehicle in the vicinity at that time or possess relevant mobile, dash cam, or CCTV footage are encouraged to contact the police via email at collision.appeal@sussex.police.uk, quoting Op Romsley.
