Sussex NHS critical incident has been stepped down a level

A critical incident has been declared across health services in Sussex to help ensure local people continue to get safe and high-quality care over the New Year period has been downgraded to business continuity.

The NHS Sussex Integrated Care Board (ICB) said “We have Many additional measures remain in place, such as:

  • Recruiting more staff to speed up discharge
  • Virtual wards, allowing eligible patients to be treated safely at home
  • Additional capacity to see children with suspected Strep A outside of hospital

However, all services remain extremely busy and people may continue to experience disruption over the coming weeks. Industrial action is expected to take place across ambulance services on 11 January and for nursing staff on 18 and 19 January.

  • Collect loved ones from hospital as soon as they are ready
  • Stay home if you have symptoms of flu/Covid-19
  • Boost your immunity with vaccines if eligible Thank you.”
