In a dramatic police chase that spanned across Surrey and West Sussex, a man was apprehended and has now been charged with several offenses. The incident began around 9.30 pm on Sunday, 24 December, following a report of a stolen vehicle on the M25 in Surrey.
Surrey Police, along with Sussex Police, were quick to respond, initiating a pursuit of the vehicle which had failed to stop for the authorities. The high-speed chase culminated on the A27 in Lancing, where road policing officers successfully intercepted the car and detained the driver.
The suspect, identified as Sonny Breakspear, 34, of no fixed address, faces a litany of charges. These include driving a vehicle without the owner’s consent, dangerous driving, causing criminal damage to a police vehicle, driving without a licence, failing to stop, and driving without insurance.
Additionally, Breakspear is charged with criminal damage and assault occasioning actual bodily harm related to an incident on 8 December in Dorking, Surrey. He also faces charges of malicious communication for a separate incident that occurred on 15 December.
Breakspear is scheduled to appear before Guildford Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 27 December.
