Hastings Bottle Attack: Police Seek Witnesses in Violent Altercation

Authorities are calling for witnesses following a violent altercation involving six individuals on East Parade, Hastings, around 9 PM on Monday, May 1. During the assault, a man was reportedly attacked with a bottle.

Police found a 42-year-old male victim at the scene, who was treated by SECAmb personnel before being transported to the hospital with serious, though not life-threatening or life-altering, injuries. The victim had been in the company of another man and a 14-year-old boy at the time of the incident.

Forensic teams and other specialist units remained at the scene to collect evidence. A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH) and has been released on police bail until July 27.

Anyone with information that could aid the investigation is urged to report it to the police online or call 101, quoting serial number 1405 of 01/05. Information can also be provided anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
